Plan Game Scene

Write about your vision of the game. What excites you the most?

I'm still not sure about my background. It's easy when you think about it, but if you really want to make a creative, but educational game, then it might get a little complicated. Either I will make the background in the road like same Safe Driving games or make the game like a test. For example, if you are beginning to drive, then you must know all the rules in the road. The background doesn't really worry me because as soon as I come up with new ideas, I go fast. What really matters to me is how am I going to be able to put the code. Since I want for the player to learn basic rules of driving, it's really important to me that they know all the facts and soon, they will be reminded. The thing is that I want for the player to not just find objects because it's fairly too easy and what will they learn? No, I don't think that it will help. That's why I will be putting questions and the player must answer the question right by FINDING the RIGHT  object.
This is my basic vision of the game that I will create, but I still need to do much more planning!

Choose Learning Topic- Safe Driving

Why do you like this topic for your Hidden Object Game?

Last year, I chose Healthy Living, so I thought to make another game with a different concept. Although, I must say that I'm not as excited with this topic, but that is just because I have more interest in Healthy Living. This year, is a new year, so I'm going to try a new idea!
Yes, this is also a great topic for a Hidden Object Game. More teens are suffering the consequences, so why not teach them of what is expected in the road? It's also a great way to learn more about this topic, since I'm in high school. I will be able to share my ideas and teachings with other kids my age. I can also, myself, learn more about Safe Driving, since I don't know all the rules completely and appropriately.
Those are my main reasons of why I chose this new topic and I hope I can succeed in making an educational, but also fun game to play!

Play to Learn

Reflect on what you learned by playing these games. What kind of ideas did you get for your own game?

First of all, this is not my first year designing games...I actually enjoy creating Hidden Object Games. Last year, I didn't have a whole lot time to do my Hidden Object Game because we had to do a Mobile Game. I don't know what my topic will be for this year, but I know for sure that I will try to make it a hidden one and educational again. Yeah, these games were great because they all have their own objective and their own learning goal. These games gave me new ideas for new games that I will create. For example, I can focus on safe driving or cleaning up the pollution. I don't have a whole lot to say, but this is because I don't have an idea. Although I do assure you that I will have another great idea!

Play To Learn

Game Title: Math Sports
What is the Learning goal/topic of the game: The learning goal of the game was to find the square root of the numbers that were given to you.
Was the game fun to play? Why or why not?: The game was actually fun to play. I really liked the graphics, they were so creative! It also explains in detail what you need to do. Some of the obstacles were really fast and that made you want to play the game more.
Did the game do a good job of teaching the topic, why or why not?: Yes, but at the same time no. I mean, you actually have to know the square roots. Anyways, I did like it!

Game Title: Mathlodon
What is the Learning goal/topic of the game: The topic of the game was Math. It was about solving hard problems that you can't possibly memorize.
Was the game fun to play? Why or why not?: I honestly didn't like it because it was too hard! Those were questions that I didn't know. I actually need to have a calculator or a piece of paper to solve them.
Did the game do a good job of teaching the topic, why or why not? No, it didn't do a good job on teaching. Like I said, those problems got harder the more you played.

Game Title: Math Blocks
What is the Learning goal/topic of the game: The topic was about Math too. It was about adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
Was the game fun to play? Why or why not?: The game was fun to play. You had to hurry because you had a tetris piece and you had to put it the right way.
Did the game do a good job of teaching the topic, why or why not?: I actually think it did because as you were reading the problem, you tried to hurry as much as possible to solve it. A timed game can be an excellent way to learn it, forcefully.
